2022 Nottingham Petit Verdot, Oakville
,
This marks our first bottling from Oakview Vineyard and our first Petit Verdot in nearly a decade. The wine showed so much promise on its own that we set aside just 50 cases to let it speak independently.
The palate is deep and polished, with dark-toned fruit carried by a supple, finely knit framework. Subtle floral lift brings balance and energy, while the structure remains controlled and seamless from start to finish. The impression is one of quiet power and precision, with texture leading the experience rather than weight.

Profile
On the palate, a rich and layered experience unfolds. The core flavors mirror the aroma, offering a symphony of black currant, plum, and black cherry. The fruit is complemented by notes of mocha and subtle oak spice. A touch of brightness emerges from the Cabernet Franc, preventing the wine from becoming monolithic.
Appearance: Deep ruby in color with a vibrant purple rim, signaling youth and concentration.
Aroma: The nose is immediately expressive and indicative of its Napa Valley origins. Dominated by ripe black fruit, including black cherry and cassis, layered with notes of plum and blackberry jam. Nuances of cedar and vanilla bean rise from the French oak aging, accompanied by subtle dark chocolate and baking spice elements. Hints of violets and dried herbs add complexity, hinting at the diversity of the vineyard sources.
Winemaker notes
Sourced from multiple vineyards in top-tier areas in Napa Valley
Handpicked at optimal ripeness in the cool evenings, destemmed and sorted.
Fermented primarily in closed-top stainless steel tanks with 2-3 pumpovers per day. Pressed at peak phenolic extraction.
This 2023 Cabernet Sauvignon is a classic expression of Napa Valley. It showcases the power and concentration of Oakville fruit alongside the nuanced complexity brought by the inclusion of fruit from Mount Veeder and Oak Knoll. The judicious use of new French oak has imparted a luxurious texture and subtle spice notes without overpowering the fruit. Well-structured and balanced, this wine is approachable now but has the potential to age gracefully for a decade or more.
